Restore a cancelled subscription
If a subscription has been cancelled by accident, you may be able to restore it. The options available depend on how the subscription was paid for and how much time has passed since cancellation.
Manual and Direct Debit subscriptions
Subscriptions paid manually or by Direct Debit can be restored within seven days of cancellation.
- Go to the Contact record.
- Find the cancelled subscription in the Subscriptions section.
- Select Restore from the action menu (...).
The status will be recalculated and become Valid, Overdue, or Expired depending on whether existing invoices are paid. The system will attempt to take payment for existing unpaid invoices if there is a saved payment method on file.
Note: After seven days, the option to restore is no longer available.
Card (Stripe) subscriptions
Due to the way Stripe works, it is not possible to restore a Stripe subscription once it has been cancelled.
However, if you cancelled a member's subscription by mistake, you can reinstate their subscription by following these steps:
- Go to the Contact record
- Add a new subscription for the member.
- Set the renewal date to match the cancelled subscription but set payment method to Manual.
- Click the action menu (...) next to this new subscription and select Convert to Stripe Subscription. This will link up the new subscription with the payment details already in Stripe.
