Convert a manual subscription to a Stripe subscription
If a member has a card on file but their subscription payments are not being taken automatically, it's usually because their subscription is set to Manual payment.
This can happen if the subscription was created before the member added a card to their profile.
Here’s how to resolve this by converting the manual subscription to a Stripe subscription, which will enable automatic payments.
1. Convert the subscription to Stripe
First, you need to switch the subscription from manual to automatic payments.
- Navigate to the contact record of the member in question.
- Click on their Subscription.
- Select the 'Convert to Stripe subscription' option.
Once you've done this, all future payments for this subscription will be charged automatically to the card on file.
2. Settle any outstanding payments
If there is an overdue invoice from before you made this change, you'll need to process it manually for the account to be fully up to date.
- Go to your Stripe dashboard and find the relevant customer record.
- Click 'Create invoice' and process a payment for the amount of the unpaid invoice in White Fuse.
3. Mark the invoice as paid in White Fuse
Finally, you need to update the invoice status in your White Fuse account to reflect the payment you just took in Stripe.
- Return to the member's contact record in White Fuse.
- Locate the outstanding invoice.
- Mark it as Paid.
The member's account will now be up to date, and their future subscription payments will be collected automatically.
